Civil engineering – that doesn't just include earthmoving, but also a wide range of ancillary services from coordination and vegetation clearing to excavation and transport. Entrepreneur Florian Dambauer's fleet is just as diverse: in addition to trucks, diggers, cranes and forklifts, it also includes the fleet's latest shining gem – a brand-new Unimog U 430.

In keeping with the company colour, the new vehicle shines in a bright red – switching to an industry-typical orange would never have crossed the owner’s mind. Well equipped for the task, his Unimog transports construction machinery both to densely populated areas and to the most remote locations for deployment.

Also important for Florian Dambauer is the ability to unload several tonnes of building material where it is really needed. That often eliminates an additional handling step, allowing him to operate more effectively than competitors who rely solely on truck models. Another advantage: freed from driving bans that often force other construction machines to take long detours, the Unimog goes straight to the job, whenever and wherever it is needed.

More and more small construction firms are relying on the cost-effectiveness of the Unimog: those who, like Florian Dambauer, run a three-man business appreciate the Unimog's towing capacity, traction reserves and fuel-efficiency advantage in daily use just as much as the certainty that they can use the powerhouse of their construction fleet all year round — 24 hours a day.

That early on prompted Florian Dambauer to start using a Unimog, with which he can relocate construction machinery and carry out winter maintenance within the catchment area of his home municipality of Elsbethen near Salzburg. Until just over a year ago he was still using an older Unimog model for this. But then the time came: to cover the steadily rising volume of orders, he made the generational switch to the new Unimog U 430.

The entrepreneur was assisted in the purchase of his special truck by the specialists at Pappas Unimog in Eugendorf, who, with their comprehensive advice, ensured that his company can now look forward to a model tailored to its specific field of work.

Whereas in earlier times the Unimog in Austria was primarily deployed on tunnel construction sites and in high-alpine areas, the all-rounder has since become a welcome presence on construction sites that other vehicles can no longer cope with. In addition to the classic virtues of a universal motor device, it also offers a safe and comfortable working environment and, relative to its compact dimensions, an enormous payload.

The fleet newcomer had to go a whole year without a break, so busy was it from the wide range of tasks. That Florian Dambauer, despite all the stress the construction industry brings, is nevertheless meticulous about his machines is also reflected in his Unimog: despite intensive transport operations on and off the road, the Unimog U 430 has not sustained a single scratch so far.
