Largest fleet in Great Britain

Since the delivery of three more tippers, the GRS Group has the largest Econic fleet in the United Kingdom. One main reason for their loyalty to the Econic: its comprehensive all-round visibility, which meets London's strict Direct Vision Standard in the long term.

More power for megaproject

As one of the leading independent building materials dealers in Great Britain, the GRS Group moves around 20 million tonnes of material every year with its approximately 800 employees. The company relies on performance: the GRS fleet now comprises 15 Econic. The three most recently acquired 3235 tippers are deployed on the Thames for work related to the construction of the HS2 high-speed rail line.

More safety through visibility.

Safety plays a central role in the transport policy of the United Kingdom. Perfect conditions, then, for the Econic, which is known for its excellent visibility. Thanks to the low seating position, the driver can easily make direct eye contact with pedestrians and cyclists. That earns the truck the highest rating under London's Direct Vision Standard – a full five stars.

"The all-round view and the proximity to other road users make driving in the city much less stressful."

Peter Watson, driver, GRS Group

Driver focus first.

"Some colleagues were initially a little unsure because of the novel cab design. But the all-round visibility and the proximity to other road users make driving in the city much less stressful," reports Peter Watson. As a driver at the GRS Group, he knows exactly what he's talking about.

Mark Starosolsky, who works as logistics director for the contractor SCS JV on the HS2 project, adds: "GRS is a reliable partner. The Econic, with its low seating position, is the safest vehicle on the market."

“We believe these trucks are the best choice for London city traffic.”

Matthew Johansson, Plant & Logistics Director, GRS Group

Small turning circle, great value.

Matthew Johansson, Plant & Logistics Director of the GRS Group, speaks enthusiastically about Daimler Truck's tippers: "Our aim is to set safety standards and make our fleet more future-proof. That's why we have decided to increase our investment in the Econic." His clear conclusion: "We believe these trucks are the best choice for urban traffic in London."

In addition to its excellent all-round visibility, the Econic also scores points for its tight turning circle: the ENA chassis with two driven rear axles and a steered tag axle makes it possible. This allows the truck to maneuver far better through the narrow streets of the British capital than comparable models.

Its generally high robustness, absolute reliability and the comprehensive dealer support in the Daimler Truck network also clearly speak in favor of the Econic.

Always properly equipped.

The three GRS 3235 trucks are equipped with intelligently coordinated safety assistants. For example, emergency braking technology with pedestrian detection, numerous blind-spot sensors, and an automatic electronic parking brake. They are powered by 7.7-l six-cylinder engines delivering 260 kW (354 hp) and automated 12-speed manual transmissions of the Mercedes PowerShift 3 type. All Econic models in the GRS Group are fitted with Thompson Loadmaster Lite tipper bodies and Samsara telematics.

Vision Zero clearly in sight.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has fully committed himself to Vision Zero. The clear goal: to reduce traffic accidents to a minimum. Daimler Truck shares this objective and makes no compromises. The Econic is intended to have a lasting impact on road safety. That is why it even exceeds the strict standards. With its growing fleet, the GRS Group is therefore bringing the British capital's safety plans a big step forward.
