Off-road trips
Explorers drive Unimog.
Decades of experience, relentless pursuit of excellence and field tests over thousands of kilometres – in the Australian Outback and worldwide. For 65 years EarthCruiser Australia has been building special-purpose bodies for all-wheel-drive motorhomes. The aim: to create the best expedition vehicles in the world. For that, the right vehicle base is required.
EarthCruiser Australia relies on the Unimog's German engineering.
With its off-road chassis, multiple equipment variants and, above all, its compact dimensions, which make it suitable for transport in a shipping container, the Unimog convinced the Australian experts. Since then, EarthCruiser has literally been building on Unimog. The Special Truck meets all expectations by reaching the most remote regions and offering travelers comfortable lodging even for extended periods.
Australian spirit of exploration meets German engineering.
The Unimog U 430, combined with a motorhome body specially designed for off-road driving, has resulted in an always-ready, reliable travel companion with up to 300 hp: the EarthCruiser Explorer XPR440. The ensemble makes the proverbial journey to the end of the world possible. And it does so in a safe, adventurous and at the same time comfortable way that is unrivaled.

At home on the road.
The camper comes as standard with heated tanks, two lithium batteries, pumps and a water supply. The chassis-mounted tanks hold up to 860 l of water and 800 l of fuel – enabling a range of up to 3,500 km. Two fridge-freezer combinations with capacities of 212 and 68 l, electric 24‑V winches rated for loads of up to 9,000 kg at the rear and at the front, a 2.5‑kg washing machine, air conditioning, a microwave, a 240‑V external grill as well as a chainsaw and an axe complete the special equipment.
The EarthCruiser Explorer promises unforgettable expeditions – and is prepared for families as well as professional research teams. A double or two single "canopy beds" make dreams of sleeping in the great outdoors come true.
While on the move, even five people can sit comfortably in the off‑road camper. Those keen on even more varied exploration can also carry a motorcycle at the rear.
In addition to the standard telematics with satellite tracking, five externally mounted cameras record up to 45 days of real‑time footage of the expedition, which can be broadcast live worldwide as desired.

The right equipment for every need.
Depending on the travel plans, the equipment of the EarthCruiser can still be expanded: weatherproof options, both for extreme arctic cold of up to -40° Celsius and for extreme heat in deserts and the tropics, tailor the all-rounder to personal requirements.
Further specifications can be selected from a large range, which includes, for example, run-flat tyres, a tyre pressure control system and a hydraulic 4-point lifting system for changing tyres or rims. The system control for up to 140 functions of the specialist vehicle is conveniently managed via an iPad touchscreen inside the vehicle.
The EarthCruiser Explorer, model XPR440, has a body length of 4.4 m. For those who prefer more compact dimensions, the body is also available in the slightly shorter XPR380 version with an overall length of 3.8 m. From the factory, customers can also choose between a Unimog with a long (3600 mm) and a short wheelbase (3150 mm).

Fusion of two flagship models.
The Unimog implement carrier concept also impresses with additional features: the VarioPilot® transferable steering of the Unimog U 430 enables the steering wheel and the entire pedal assembly to be moved between the left and right driver’s side in less than 30 seconds – ultimate safety, visibility and control, no matter where the journey takes you.
The Special Truck also benefits from a suitable gear reduction for off-road use, as well as standard coil spring suspension with disc brakes on all four wheels, and is available with a manual or automated transmission. Thanks to all-wheel drive, differential locks, portal axles and short overhangs that provide high ground clearance and generous approach and departure angles at the front and rear, impressive capabilities open up even off paved roads, which can be further expanded on request.
The compact all-rounder can easily be transported by container freight so it can bring its unique strengths to bear in any destination region. So the next journey can begin!
