Municipal services and Waste disposal

All good things ...

In summer, piggybacking a 5 m³ water tank plus an electric front watering arm from the company Fiedler; in winter, a Bucher V-plough with Sole FS100 technology mounted on the municipal front linkage: the Unimog U 527 of the Stadtreinigung Dresden GmbH (SRD) has hardly a free minute all year round. "We use the Unimog daily as required — in winter service up to seven days in two-shift operation," explains Sven Junghanns, group leader for cleaning and winter service at Dresden's "Team Orange".

Manoeuvrable and flexible for hundreds of road kilometres.

Stadtreinigung Dresden GmbH is "completely satisfied" with its latest addition to the Unimog fleet. The first Unimog they acquired were two identical Unimog U 427s from 2019. "Stadtreinigung Dresden is the leading service provider for the state capital, Dresden, when it comes to cleaning and winter service. And when we received the order from the roads and civil engineering department to additionally cover the Schönfelder Highlands for road winter maintenance, the vehicles we had been using for inner-city work were no longer sufficient. All-wheel drive, VarioPilot® transferable steering, absolute maneuverability and full flexibility were required for the total of 220 kilometres of roads to be maintained. There was only one solution for us: the Unimog," recalls Sven Junghanns.

"We use the Unimog every day as needed – in winter service for up to seven days a week in two shifts."

The people of Dresden need the wedge plow to keep the 112,000 m² of bicycle paths at road level completely free of snow. "The snow must be reliably cleared to the side, and the wedge plow does that best," emphasizes Ralf Hoffmann, fleet manager at SRD. In the summer months the Unimog U 527 is also used for watering trees and plants or converted to a flatbed with raised sides for loading and transporting the grass cuttings from the sunbathing lawns of the 14 municipal outdoor pools. The two Unimog U 427s are also used in the summer months to clean street drains with a suction and flushing unit from Leistikow. "We can flush and vacuum," says Ralf Hoffmann.

Two yellow Mercedes-Benz Unimog vehicles are parked in front of a warehouse. The vehicles are equipped with tools and loads for construction or maintenance work.

As a special highlight, the new addition received a HIAB loader crane on top, mounted directly behind the cab. Driftwood, waste timber or, for example, excavator buckets can be lifted with it. And who knows — maybe there will even be more for the Unimog U 527 to do in the future. After all, SRD might at some point also take over mowing roadside verges. And the Unimog implement carrier is also perfectly suited for that.

Tailor-made eMobility

The conversion professionals at Mercedes-Benz Custom Tailored Trucks have once again received a special assignment: an eEconic is needed for the Australian market that does not yet exist. The expansion of e-mobility presents the colleagues in Molsheim with growing challenges – but impossible? Neither this order nor the next ones are impossible, they say.

On Stockholm's quiet trails

The Swedish traffic safety company TMA Bolaget AB is contributing to Stockholm’s environmental and climate goals with two new eEconic vehicles.

Clean safely

Econic vacuum trucks ensure empty and clean gullies so that rainwater can drain safely from the roads.

New brooms sweep clean

Jens Riedel and Silvio Schubert from the Torgau public utilities keep the streets clean with the help of three Unimog.

Maintenance operation at the hydropower plant

The Ennskraftwerke in Austria rely on the Unimog U 323. At the Thurnsdorf power plant the dam wall is only two and a half metres wide. A conventional crane doesn't get you very far there. Therefore the decision for a new model from Wörth was easy: the Unimog handles the local conditions well.

Comfort in the extreme

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks puts the Unimog implement carrier through its paces on the Grossglockner at an altitude of 2,500 m. The focus is on the UNI-TOUCH® control system.

Goes the extra mile with ease.

With the new Unimog U 527, now only one basic vehicle needs to be maintained, fuelled and stored, but it does the work of three.

Generations meeting in the Harz.

A Unimog U 84, a U 2400, a U 400 and a brand-new U 429 clear the way to the summit.

Clean competitive advantage

Only three companies in Switzerland are able to clean tunnel tubes. Besa AG is among them with its Unimog fleet.

Clean thing

The Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH is relying on the all-electric eEconic from Daimler Truck AG as a climate-friendly commercial vehicle for waste disposal.

Clean on the racing line

Two all-electric eActros 300 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks serve as collection vehicles to keep the FIS World Cup 2025 fan mile clean and protect the environment. They are part of an innovative waste concept that reduces emissions and promotes a circular economy.

Quiet performance, clean solution

The Mercedes-Benz eEconic provides quiet and emissions-free waste disposal at Zurich Airport. With an all-electric drive, high safety and ergonomic design, it optimizes workflows and contributes to the sustainable development of the airport.

Clean tours

Kerschner is starting out in electromobility with the eActros 300. The battery-electric truck shows in everyday operation how clean and quiet waste collection can be.

A clean tomorrow without yesterday's waste

The all-electric Mercedes-Benz eEconic combines future technologies in the fields of sustainability and safety. The municipal administration of the island of Bornholm, which defines itself by its love of nature, has also opted for the locally emission-free Special Truck. As a result, the environmentally friendly waste collection vehicle is now in operation across the entire island.

Tons of cleanliness

An Econic with a bin washing system from the company MoWa cleans waste bins with high pressure and hot water. The crews can fully rely on the comfort and ergonomics of their special truck.

Energised through Innsbruck

The Innsbruck municipal services have launched a sustainable revolution in waste collection with the all-electric eEconic from Daimler Truck. The vehicle impresses with its quiet, emission-free operation, supported by on-site solar power. Its innovative technology and safety features, such as Frontguard Assist and Sideguard Assist, offer a major advantage in urban traffic. The success of the eEconic is accelerating the shift to a fully electrified vehicle fleet, supported by national funding programs.

Eco as a system

Zellinger GmbH brings sustainable waste disposal to Upper Austria with four all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 – powered by its own green electricity.

Crane deployment instead of muscle power

To ensure a high level of safety in city traffic, Freiburg has relied on the Econic for 15 years. This also applies to the new underground containers.

In calmness lies strength.
