Unimog implement carrier

The Unimog U 219 Low.

It is called “Unimog Low” and is eagerly awaited by many Unimog users, especially in municipal operations. The vehicle is now celebrating its premiere — with an unprecedented concept that makes the smallest Unimog even lower and more efficient.

The lowrider among implement carriers.

This is made possible by the factory lowering of the chassis together with the corresponding wheel/tyre combination. In this case, 295/60 R22.5 tyres are used, the smallest possible for the Unimog. The vehicle based on the Unimog U 219 with platform and platform intermediate frame from Eggers Fahrzeugbau offers a particularly low loading height of approx. 1.2 m.

Easier loading and unloading.

That makes loading and unloading significantly easier. The height of the rear loading edge is therefore around 20 cm below the previous loading height. The reduction of the frame height is achieved by modifying the spring brackets.

In doing so, relative to the frame level, the upper spring assembly plane was shifted by around 40 mm. The installation space above the top edge of the frame does not change, as the previous web is omitted. Strength is ensured by the increased wall thickness of the low spring bracket.

Strong at the municipal depot.

The advantages of this Unimog concept primarily benefit public works yards that use the Unimog for municipal tasks. Whether for unloading equipment and work materials or, for example, for loading gravel, soil, sand and crushed stone.

An essential aspect of this is employee health, because for ergonomically sensible work every centimeter saved in height is an enormous gain. The wheelbase does not change; it remains at 2,800 mm, and so does the turning circle at 12.6 m. The dimensions of the Unimog Low are 4.775 × 2.250 × 2.800 mm. The permissible gross vehicle weight remains unchanged at 10 t.
