A business card on four wheels.
Green firs, blue sky — where it says Bavarian Forest, there's a Mercedes-Benz Special Truck inside. At Unimog Day 2019 on the Großer Arber, the highest mountain in the range, the all-rounder had its first outing as the calling card of the Bavarian Forest tourism region in bright sunshine.
Regional look with recognisability.
The mountain is calling: Unimog with special livery out in the Bavarian Forest.
The idea: to give service vehicles in the tourist area a visual branding with a regional look. And thereby promote the region. The development of the special foil design à lá Bayerischer Wald with a nature panorama for the Unimog took a full three months. Claus Artmayer, head of municipal equipment at the company Beutlhauser, drew inspiration internationally. His role model: the Union Jack Unimog in England, which became well known to a wide audience over the past two years, above all through social media. The design is well received: further vehicles with the wrap have already been ordered. “This will make the Bayerischer Wald even more colourful,” says Günter Reimann from the East Bavaria Tourism Association about the Mercedes-Benz all-rounder with its distinctive livery.

Fit for forestry.
But it's not just about looks. The Bavarian Forest, with a mountain range of around 100 km and an elevation of 1,456 m above sea level, offers the ideal conditions to put the robust Unimog properly to the test. No wonder, then, that the Special truck shows its best side at the presentation on the Arber beyond its colorful livery: when things get bumpy, the powerful all-rounder pulls through. And it proves that, especially in terms of forestry and municipal technology, it convinces year-round thanks to its versatile range of applications.
In winter 2019/2020 it is used mainly in the town of Regen, which lies in the middle of the Bavarian Forest, for snow clearance and gritting operations. Unimog fans can also admire it at various events in 2020. For example, Unimog Freunde Lohberg celebrate their club anniversary and the record for the highest Unimog density in Germany. In the Lower Bavarian town there are 62 Unimogs for 2,100 inhabitants. The colorful Unimog from the Bavarian Forest will then be one of the guests of honor.
