Low drag and rolling resistance.
The design of the Atego has been optimised right down to the finest details in order to reduce wind resistance. From the bumper via the corner panelling to the roof – everything contributes to a low level of aerodynamic drag and thus to reduced fuel consumption. Optionally available aerodynamic body parts also reduce fuel consumption.

Application specific drive programs.
The Atego is equipped with the economy drive program as standard. This comprises various driving modes which enable precise and simple handling and a fuel-efficient driving style in virtually any driving situation. Optionally, the power drive program is also available.

Euro VI exhaust emissions technology.
Exhaust-gas recirculation
Thanks to the cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system, less nitrogen oxide and fewer particulates are produced during combustion.
Diesel particulate filter
Particulate emissions are almost entirely prevented by the closed diesel particulate filter. An optimised volume control unit injects AdBlue® into the exhaust gas flow without air.
Engine output range. The economical Euro VI engines for the Atego are available in two displacement classes and with seven power output ratings, from 115 kW (156 hp) to 220 kW (299 hp).
Fuel-saving technology.
All Euro VI engines boast low fuel consumption. With the Atego's 4- and 6-cylinder inline engines, measures such as high-pressure injection at a pressure of up to 2400 bar and cooled exhaust gas recirculation contribute to low fuel consumption while at the same time supporting combustion with low particulate emissions, for example.
Efficient power transmission.
Various 6-, 8- and 9-speed transmissions and fuel-saving hypoid axles with various gear ratios are available for the Atego to ensure efficient power transmission from engine to road. The standard-specification Mercedes PowerShift 3 automatic gearshift also offers high efficiency: with its optimised shift strategy and application specific drive programs, it enables a self-assured, anticipatory driving style in virtually any driving situation.
