A country like no other

We spent almost a year travelling through Chile – from south to north, from west to east, criss-crossing this fascinating country. While the Atacama Desert stretches across the north, Central Chile offers fertile valleys and renowned wine regions. The south is characterised by dense forests, picturesque lakes, tall fjords, and massive glaciers in Patagonia.

Chile also boasts some superlatives: It is the longest country in the world, home to the driest region on Earth – the Atacama Desert – and with “Ojos del Salado” (6,893 m above sea level), the highest volcano on Earth.

The Axor, our loyal companion

During our journey, we met many wonderful people and experienced unforgettable moments that will stay with us for a long time. Our faithful Axor has reliably taken us through remote regions and extreme climate zones – a true companion on all our routes!

We’ve put together a short video for you to better showcase Chile's diversity. You have also been able to follow our adventures in South America for some time now on Mercedes-Benz Trucks social media channels.

Enjoy watching – and see you in the next report!

4-Xtremes – Part 87: A country like no other

4-Extremes – The World Tour.

Andrea and Mike Kammermann have been on the road in their Expedition Axor since June 2020. From the northernmost point of Norway to the Canary Islands, the Swiss couple has visited large parts of Europe and even made a detour to Tunisia. Distance covered on the road: 83,000 kilometres!

Especially due to pandemic-related restrictions, further destinations were unreachable — until now: From now on, Andrea and Mike will be discovering South America. Stay tuned to see what happens next! The current tour is the second one that the Swiss couple has embarked on in their Axor. In 2018 and 2019, they travelled to more than 20 countries and covered a good 47,000 kilometres.
