    From colonial village to megacity

Series: 4-Xtremes – The World Tour

    From colonial village to megacity

From a quiet village to the vibrant São Paulo: Mike and Andrea explore Brazil, the land of extremes, in their Axor.

Hey Roadstars, this time we’re based in a sleepy colonial village on the Brazilian coast. Strolling through the old alleyways and breathing in the refreshing sea air, it feels like time has stopped.

Here, we enjoy the tranquil atmosphere before moving on. Our pitch is right on the beach, only 100 m from the water, and in the morning we’re even greeted by curious little monkeys – we're living the dream!

    Visiting Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Next, we set off to the megacity of São Paulo – for a visit to Mercedes‑Benz Trucks, where we can take a look behind the scenes at production and the engine plant.

It is impressive how precisely everything fits together and how each part arrives at exactly the right time. For Mike, the visit to the OM 460 engine plant, including test bench and a discussion with the experts, was a real highlight. We were even able to take a look at the new Axor being produced here.

On the trail of historic villages

After this exciting experience, a beautiful pass road takes us back to the coast. Our destination? Paraty. This small colonial town was founded by the Portuguese in 1597 and is located around 200 km south of Rio de Janeiro. Here we can camp right next to the historic centre, which we explore the next day. The well-preserved buildings and cobbled alleys are fascinating and full of stories of times gone by.

    A detour to the sea

Finally, we are drawn back to a remote beach where we swim in the sea for the first time – because further south the water was just too cold. We stay for a few days until our stocks run out. Then it’s clear: it’s time to head off and discover new things.
