Around the world with the eActros 600 in 80 loads.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks is embarking on an extraordinary project together with content creator and professional truck driver Tobias Wagner: the well-known “Elektrotrucker” with more than 160,000 followers wants to drive around the world with the eActros 600. To the best of current knowledge, it would be the first circumnavigation of the globe by a truck powered solely by batteries. The route is planned to cover over 45,000 kilometers through more than 35 countries and require a maximum of 80 charging stops. Overall the expedition is expected to take around one year. 

The world-circumnavigation eActros 600 is a 4x2 flatbed truck that rolled off the production line in mid-April at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein. Following various conversion measures — for example a spare wheel carrier with an integrated mobile charging unit, single tires, and additional headlights at the vehicle front — the truck will receive a specially developed motorhome body from Bliss Mobil, which will serve as the mobile base for the journey. The start of the trip is scheduled for autumn 2026. The finished expedition vehicle and further details of the project are to be presented in early summer. 

The eActros 600 was specifically developed for long-distance use. It features a high battery capacity of more than 600 kilowatt hours as well as a particularly efficient electric drive axle developed in-house, which enables a range of 500 kilometers¹ without recharging when fully loaded in long-haul operation.

The flatbed vehicle built up as an expedition vehicle will normally exceed this range significantly due to its lower weight.

Now we are curious to see what experiences Tobias will gather with the eActros 600 on his extraordinary world expedition — a journey that will, on the one hand, make it clear that battery-electric long-haul transport can already work worldwide and, on the other hand, show that in many places the necessary conditions still need to be put in place to make it practical on a wide scale.”

For Tobias Wagner the project is not only an extraordinary journey but also an opportunity to demonstrate the potential that battery-electric trucks already have today in long-haul transport. After all, the influencer has worked full-time for two years as a truck driver at Nanno Janssen Spedition GmbH, a logistics service provider from Leer in Lower Saxony that is in the process of consistently converting its truck fleet from diesel to electric drive and has already built its own charging park for this purpose. Tobias Wagner has been driving battery-electric trucks from various manufacturers for years – since summer 2025 also with an eActros 600 – and has so far covered 200,000 kilometers in national and international long-haul transport entirely electrically.  

Tobias Wagner: "After countless tours through 22 countries I know: the electric truck in long-haul transport works without any problems. To convince even the last sceptics, I am following in the footsteps of Jules Verne – however, I am not travelling in 80 days, but around the world in 80 charging stations! For such an adventure the eActros 600, with its enormous battery capacity, efficiency and bodywork options, is the perfect companion. That's why I wanted to show with this vehicle that electromobility in heavy transport has long since arrived in real-world operation."

Tobias Wagner plans to regularly inform his followers about his experiences and to provide insights into battery-electric travel in heavy commercial vehicles. The route takes him through very different regions – from well-developed motorways through long and demanding overland routes to remote areas.

Because not all regions are equally prepared for battery-electric trucks, the journey requires particularly careful planning and preparation to meet the diverse climatic, topographic and infrastructural challenges. His expedition is less about records than about a practical question: How far can a modern battery-electric long-haul truck actually make it today, and what are the biggest challenges, hurdles or even misconceptions?

Tobias Wagner is a truck driver, content creator and ambassador for battery-electric logistics. The 32-year-old start-up entrepreneur from Mühldorf am Inn, who has spent the past few years building passenger car charging infrastructure, has devoted himself entirely to electric logistics since 2024. Since then he has been working as a full-time professional driver for the Lower Saxony-based haulage company Nanno Janssen in numerous countries across Europe and shares his experiences on YouTube.

With the first circumnavigation of the globe by an electric truck he now wants to demonstrate to the commercial vehicle industry that the true limits of the technology — if they exist at all — lie far outside Europe. Through this flagship project Tobias Wagner aims to inspire logistics professionals and truck drivers across Europe and encourage them to embrace a sustainable, quiet and economical transport world.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks celebrated the start of series production of the eActros 600 at the Mercedes-Benz Wörth plant at the end of 2024, and it is now in daily operation on the road in more than 15 European countries. The electric flagship among Mercedes-Benz Trucks has already proven its capabilities several times under real-world conditions: in customer operations, as part of the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024”, an over 15,000-kilometre all-electric development drive through a total of 22 countries, and the “European Testing Tour Winter 2025” covering around 6,500 kilometres through Northern Europe — each with a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes.

Furthermore, the electric truck was named “International Truck of the Year 2025”. The award is the industry's most important prize and is presented annually by the International Truck of the Year (IToY) organisation, made up of 24 commercial vehicle specialist journalists from across Europe. Decisive for the award was, among other things, the overall technological concept of the electric drive axle and LFP cell technology. 

The high battery capacity of over 600 kilowatt hours – hence the model designation 600 – together with a new, particularly efficient electric drive axle developed in-house, enable the eActros 600 to achieve a range of 500 km¹ without recharging.

This range is achieved under very realistic, practical conditions with a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes and can be significantly exceeded depending on driving style and route. The eActros 600 could even cover well over 1,000 km in a day.

Opportunity charging during the legally mandated driver breaks makes this possible, provided charging facilities are available. The eActros 600 has three battery packs of 207 kWh each^2. These provide an installed total capacity of 621 kWh. The batteries are based on lithium iron phosphate cell technology (LFP) and offer a long service life. In contrast to other battery cell technologies, LFP technology also allows the use of over 95% of the installed capacity.

This enables a greater range with the same amount of installed battery capacity. The vehicle is technically designed for a combined gross vehicle weight of up to 44 tonnes. With a standard trailer, the eActros 600 has a payload of around 22 tonnes in the EU. In some cases national law may permit a higher payload.
