Snow-clearing service with the Arocs at the Biathlon World Cup 2026
Oberhof/Leinfelden-Echterdingen – When the world’s biathlon elite took to the start in the Arena am Rennsteig in January 2026, Mercedes‑Benz trucks once again ensured optimal conditions behind the scenes.
At the World Cup in Oberhof (Thuringia), Mercedes‑Benz Arocs tipper vehicles from the rental fleet of Mercedes‑Benz CharterWay were used for snow removal and area clearing.
Even after the World Cup competitions concluded, the vehicles remain active, among other things to support the school and youth cups currently taking place.
Around 300 athletes from 27 nations were registered for the World Cup. During the event and afterwards, it was necessary to strategically relocate snow, remove excess quantities from the arena and adjacent areas, and keep traffic, athlete and service areas safely usable at all times, often under demanding wintry conditions.
Designed for heavy-duty winter operations.
The Mercedes‑Benz Arocs is ideally suited to heavy-duty operations off paved roads. Its robust frame construction, powerful drivetrains and diverse chassis configurations make it a suitable working vehicle for winter major events such as the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof.
Traction-rich drive concepts, differential locks and off-road equipment enable safe working even in snow, ice and on steep gradients. Especially when manoeuvring on narrow access roads, around the stadium or on forest tracks, the Arocs plays to its strengths: high manoeuvrability, precise vehicle control and ergonomics designed for construction-site use support the drivers during long periods of operation.

Flexible provision via Mercedes‑Benz CharterWay
The Arocs used come from the rental fleet of Mercedes‑Benz CharterWay, an offering from Daimler Truck Financial Services. Mercedes‑Benz CharterWay operates a fleet of around 6,000 commercial vehicles nationwide and offers flexible rental solutions from short-term use to long-term rental. In addition to conventional powertrains, the portfolio also includes around 150 battery-electric vehicles; the expansion of the e-fleet, including the eActros 600, is part of the strategic orientation as a holistic "Truck-as-a-Service" provider.
Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof
The Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof is hosted in cooperation with Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH (OSE), for which Arocs are deployed. Thousands of spectators on site and international TV broadcasts once again made the event a major logistical undertaking.
