Courage creates the possible.

80 years of the Unimog

Courage creates the possible.

In the beginning, there was courage. And conviction. In 1946, Albert Friedrich was determined to develop a vehicle that could do everything: it had to be as robust as a tractor, as fast as a car and as versatile as a tool. His plan worked: the universal motor device was born.

In the coldest winter and the driest summer, at an altitude of 1,000 m or up to 1.20 m deep in water: for 80 years, the Unimog has been shouldering heavy loads, extinguishing forest fires, pulling freight trains and reliably performing the most demanding tasks for local authorities and private companies.

Versatility and the will to make the impossible possible. These are the two characteristics that define the Unimog, make it incomparable and explain the impressive success it has enjoyed to this day.

Built for extremes.

Where the road ends, the path for the extreme off-road Unimog begins: All-wheel drive, high fording capability, and the extremely twistable chassis make it possible.
