Our vehicle, which has been preserved in its original condition, is one of a whole series of different lorries that Gottlieb Daimler was already offering before the turn of the century. He entered it in his commission book with an order date of 11th March 1899 and delivered it two months later to the building department of the municipal waterworks in Stuttgart, which, 24 years later, presented the vehicle as a gift to the factory museum, which was already in existence at that time. During the Second World War, it was moved to Dresden for safekeeping and did not return from there until 1991.
