The Unimog (Universalmotorgerät) is a product of the post-war years: a vehicle with a ladder frame, all-wheel drive, portal axles, a load bed, hydraulic brakes and much faster than a tractor. Our Unimog was originally built as the second prototype by the company Erhard & Söhne in Schwäbisch Gmünd with a petrol engine. In its long working life it underwent numerous modernisations to reach its current condition. Series production of the Unimog began from 1949 at Gebrüder Boehringer in Göppingen. In 1951 Daimler-Benz took over production and the rights in order to meet the rising demand with the production capacities at the Gaggenau plant.
