In an emergency, seconds often count. All the more important that every move is precise and the best performance can always be delivered. A challenge tailor-made for the Unimog U 5023 with a 3,000-litre firefighting water tank. The Minden firefighters can rely on the Special Truck. No matter how hazardous the situation, the Unimog provides maximum protection.

What the Minden fire brigade was looking for was a tank fire-fighting vehicle that also guarantees the highest safety and performance off paved roads. The TLF 3000 meets all required criteria following conversion by bodybuilder Lentner: impressive slope, inclination and ramp angles ensure safe progress even in difficult terrain, not least thanks to a fording capability of 1.2 metres.

The centrifugal fire-fighting pump integrated in the rear of the special truck supplies the roof-mounted rapid-attack system. The monitor is controlled from the round roof hatch of the Unimog U 5023. The Unimog’s pump-and-roll function, which has by now become standard equipment on many fire-fighting vehicles, ensures a continuous water supply. A spray bar is also located under the bumper and can be easily activated by the driver at the push of a button. In addition to extinguishing flames close to the ground, it also serves as self-protection for the vehicle during vegetation fire-fighting.

And so that all functions of the Unimog are always operational and remain so, the Unimog general representative RKF Bleses is available to the Minden fire brigade as a reliable partner for advice and service.

The 395/80 R20 off-road tyres of the Unimog and a factory-fitted, fully integrated tyre pressure control system ensure a smooth ride off-road. By automatically reducing tyre pressure when off-road, the tyre's contact patch increases, so the vehicle sinks in less. Safety circuits prevent over- or under-pressures. And as soon as the Unimog is back on firm road, the air pressure in the tyres is readjusted to the required level. A real relief for the driver: he can fully concentrate on the operation and the traffic. Another plus of the Special Truck: the finely stepped off-road gears, together with the automated transmission, adjust the speed precisely to the firefighting requirements.

The Unimog U 5023 was designed for demanding tasks. And it masters all the challenges it can encounter even in difficult firefighting operations. It is no wonder, then, that the Special Truck is now considered indispensable in Minden.
