Genuine Parts
Build on originals.
Whether it’s our unique team or the work with genuine replacement parts for transmissions: with Remanufacturing you rely on originals. Where are they at home? At the plant in Gaggenau, the birthplace of the Unimog. There, transmissions for the Unimog have always been built. That’s why the employees are precisely the right people to refurbish its parts. From the workshop overhaul of your transmission to the rapid delivery of an exchange unit: Unimog offers tailored solutions and spare parts in original-part quality – exactly to your needs.
Unimog Remanufacturing: The factory remanufacturing for your transmission
The No. 1 for transmission damage.
If a transmission starts to stutter, the Unimog comes to a halt. Because it is an all‑rounder and is often scheduled year‑round, the repair has to meet many requirements at once: competent, reliable, fast. Not an easy task for such a highly complex part.
With Unimog Remanufacturing you are making the right choice. Reliable service, high‑quality replacement parts, technical know‑how: From first contact to delivery, the highest Mercedes-Benz Trucks quality standards are applied.
Always in the service of the Unimog.
In the event of a problem, the experienced customer service staff at the Gaggenau plant are personally there for you. And they will advise you in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Individuality is always the focus: based on your description of the damage, the experienced professionals can work with you to assess which repair options are available. After all, there are several.
Good things need parts: our offers.
Remanufacturing, abbreviated to Reman – exactly what that means depends on the individual case. In the case of major transmission damage, for example when shavings have entered the system, a remanufactured transmission is usually recommended.
Remanufactured transmission
You send in your defective transmission and receive a previously remanufactured one from the Reman team. | Fixed price
If the damage is not extensive, remanufacturing is usually worthwhile. It is sustainable and often more cost-effective. Three options are available – depending on how quickly the Unimog needs to be back in service.
Individual service
You send in your transmission. Damaged parts are replaced, as are generally all wear parts. You will receive the transmission back about 15 days later.
| The price depends on the extent of damage
Standard service
You will receive a repaired transmission within a week and you send in your defective transmission after replacement.
| The price depends on the extent of damage
Express service
You will receive a repaired transmission as a priority after one to two days and send in your defective transmission after replacement.
| Damage-dependent price + express fee
No compromises on quality.
However it happens, sooner or later every transmission in need of repair ends up at the Gaggenau plant. There the specialists know every single small gear of the Unimog by name. "When we have a transmission in front of us, we first disassemble it into its individual parts," explains assembly foreman Ralf Schmellick, describing the Reman process.
Then comes the thorough cleaning. "Important here: through extensive testing and sorting of all parts we determine which can be reused and which must be repaired or replaced." Sustainability is an important factor: on average, around 80% of transmission parts are reused.
The parts are then reconditioned or replaced with Mercedes‑Benz Trucks Genuine Parts and everything is reassembled. "Before it leaves our warehouse in Gaggenau, we put the complete transmission on the test bench and carry out a Reman quality control," emphasizes Ralf Schmellick. "This also sets us apart from others: nobody else, for example, routinely subjects a rebuilt transmission to a test in an immersion tank. And that's not just for show; on the contrary: that way we find every tiny leak and save the driver trouble later."
Delivered as ordered.
A Unimog transmission consists of a main transmission — also called the manual transmission — a transfer case, a working gear group and a creeper gear group. In the Reman programme there are two options: either only the main transmission is exchanged or the complete transmission. Reductions such as the working or creeper gear group must always be requested separately.
Genuine transmission service that works for you.
A transmission only leaves the Gaggenau plant in the latest design standard. The Reman team is particularly proud of that. Your advantage: a one-year warranty on the complete transmission, not just on the repaired parts. You only get that with the original.
