The lower the fuel consumption, the lower the total cost of the truck, particularly in long-distance haulage. With this in mind, we have given our all to reduce fuel consumption as standard on the Actros L.
When it comes to fuel consumption, less is more.
We have further improved the Actros L's aerodynamics to achieve an extremely low level of drag and even lower fuel consumption: for example, the new MirrorCam271, 287 cuts fuel consumption by up to 1.3 % compared to conventional mirrors as standard.

The third generation OM 471.
Making saving splendid for everyone: third- generation OM 471 engines have newly developed combustion systems and a new, integrated exhaust control strategy to improve the truck's drive. Two turbochargers tailored to the respective application enhance performance.
Newly developed, consumption-optimised turbochargers for the lower and medium output stages of third-generation OM 471 engines enable them to save more fuel than predecessor models. The upper output levels also benefit from these in-engine enhancements in terms of fuel consumption – up to 4% less than previous models – in combination with a performance-optimised turbocharger. With lower consumption at 350 kW (476 hp) and optionally 330 kW (450 hp), this not only reduces costs, it also reduces CO₂ emissions.
Euro VI exhaust emissions technology.
The economical Euro VI engines are available in three displacement classes from 10.7 l to 15.6 l and a total of 13 power output ratings from 240 kW (326 hp) to 460 kW (625 hp).
Thanks to the cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system, less nitrogen oxide and fewer particulates are produced during combustion.
Diesel particulate filter:
Particulate emissions are almost entirely prevented by the closed diesel particulate filter. An optimised volume control unit injects AdBlue® into the exhaust gas flow without air.
All Euro VI engines boast low fuel consumption. Further contributions to the low consumption also come from consumption-reducing drive programs, an optimised rear axle ratio252, MirrorCam271, 287 and the standard, further-developed Predictive Powertrain Control system. Intelligent ancillary consumers and finely honed aerodynamics also play a role. This all adds up to increased fuel savings on motorways and A and B roads in comparison to the previous model.
Actros L driving programs.
The Actros L is equipped with the economy/power drive program as standard. The economy drive program is intended for use in long-distance haulage and contributes to even greater efficiency. The maximum power can be called up at any time, for example on uphill gradients, via the power drive program. The economy+ and fleet drive programs, which have been specially configured with regard to maximum speed and shifting characteristics, are optionally available instead of the power drive program.
Eco-Support1054 gives the driver valuable feedback on the economy of their driving style using graphic evaluation. Acceleration, braking, regularity and coasting are taken into account.
