    Two ways – one truck

    Re-railing is no problem.

    Applications

    Always on the right track

Whether you operate a railway company, a subway system or an industrial company with its own rail network, manoeuvre light rail vehicles and trams, or operate as a service provider in rail construction or track maintenance: when you need to work flexibly on rail or on road, the two-way vehicles offered by Mercedes‑Benz Trucks ensure the right solution for maximum efficiency in operation. Cooperation with bodybuilders and two-way specialists ensures the right configuration for your projects.

Mercedes‑Benz Trucks not only provides you with powerful and reliable vehicles for road use, but also for rail operation. As a manoeuvring vehicle, the Unimog implement carrier operates with plenty of power on rails – and can also be radio remote-controlled, should you wish. Thanks to the high traction of its rubber tyres on steel rails, the Unimog can move trailer loads of up to 1,000 tonnes or around 52 wagon axles. The optional torque converter clutch significantly increases the starting torque and ensures smooth moving off – even under high loads. This not only protects the transported goods and the vehicle, but also reduces clutch wear.

When it comes to powerful two-way vehicles for re-railing and recovery work, Mercedes‑Benz Trucks offers you a wide selection in different weight classes and with individual bodies.

Maintenance, upkeep and servicing of overhead contact lines: for these tasks, you need a specially designed vehicle, for example with a lifting platform. With Mercedes‑Benz Trucks, you get body-friendly, high-quality chassis that are technically tested in close cooperation with leading two-way experts and tailored to your requirements.

When you maintain miles of rail networks and numerous switches every day, you need a vehicle you can rely on. With the Unimog implement carrier, Mercedes‑Benz Trucks ensures you have the right basis for rail and groove cleaning as well as repair and construction work. With innovative attachments and bodies tailored to you, you can get your work done quickly and effectively.

You’re hard at work all year round: in winter, tracks, switches and access roads need to be cleared of snow, ice and dirt – in summer, green space maintenance is required. With the Unimog implement carrier, Mercedes‑Benz Trucks offers you an adaptable vehicle for all these tasks and weather conditions. Whether with a front broom, pruning shears, mower or sprayer – thanks to the quick-change system and standardised interfaces, you can convert your truck to suit the task and save valuable time.

    Unimog implement carrier

For two-way operation, you need a vehicle that can manoeuvre heavy towing loads and at the same time be used for maintenance work on the track infrastructure. The Unimog does both for you. With a tractive force of up to 1,000 t, torque converter clutch, compact axles and permanent all-wheel drive via its own wheels, you can master even demanding manoeuvring tasks. The ability to get on and off the track in a few minutes gives you great flexibility. In addition, up to four attachment and body spaces as well as powerful interfaces make the Unimog the right carrier vehicle for different implements – perfect for maintenance and repair work.

    Arocs

The Arocs can be operated as a two-way version if you are looking for a versatile alternative to rail-bound vehicles for construction, maintenance and repair work on overhead contact lines. With hydraulic rail travel drive, it offers you precisely this variability – whether for trams, subways or standard-gauge railways.

    eActros

With the eActros, you’re moving towards the future, not just on the road, but also on rails. The electric drive of the eActros enables quiet and efficient operation, both in urban areas and in sensitive industrial areas. It is your reliable partner for operations in and around railway infrastructure or for work on overhead power lines using an aerial work platform.
