Municipal & Waste disposal
Great Britain's winter hero.
Blue paint, clean lines and a strong presence – that is how the 1,000th Mercedes-Benz Arocs rolls into the fleet of Econ Engineering. But behind this number there is far more than a truck. It is the sign of a partnership that has been keeping British roads safe for several decades.
The Mercedes-Benz Arocs impresses Econ Engineering with performance, reliability and comfort.
Strong team for tough missions.
Econ Engineering, the British manufacturer of spreader vehicles and specialist equipment for winter service, operates the largest privately owned rental fleet of winter service vehicles in the United Kingdom. From more than 1,000 vehicles, interested companies and municipalities can rent vehicles that cope with ice and snow with ease. Last year this fleet covered over 400,000 km. At the centre: the Mercedes-Benz Arocs as a spreader vehicle with all-wheel drive, a high frame and robust bodywork.
The newest addition is a genuine anniversary vehicle. Fitted with Econ's Spargo spreader, it strengthens the rental fleet and is ready when the weather turns. In doing so the Arocs shows what modern technology can do: the OM 471 engine provides powerful propulsion, the PowerShift transmission shifts gears precisely and the cab offers comfort and overview thanks to the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2.
Reliability that pays off.
For Jonathan Lupton, managing director of Econ Engineering, it is clear: "The Arocs meets our high demands. Our customers expect reliable technology. Daimler Truck delivers it — day after day."
“These vehicles keep Great Britain running in all weathers.”
The partnership between Daimler Truck UK, the dealer Northside Truck & Van and Econ Engineering shows what good partnership is made of. Together they develop solutions precisely tailored to wintry roads. Heiko Selzam, managing director of Daimler Truck UK, also praises the collaboration: "These vehicles keep Britain running in all weathers."
Technology with responsibility.
Alongside power, control also matters. Assistance systems can support this by protecting and relieving drivers. The chassis of the Arocs models is designed for extreme conditions. Whether 4x4 or 8x8, every chassis provides safety on slippery surfaces.
Bob Holt, Key Account Manager at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, knows the requirements of winter service. Together with the workshops in the network, he ensures service and operational readiness, even in the event of sudden snowfall.
The 1,000th Arocs is emblematic of continuity and change at the same time and shows what modern commercial vehicles can do. For the road, for safety and for people.
