Maintenance goes digital.
One of the first digital maintenance management systems for trucks – and the start of a new service era: the "Telligent Maintenance System" in the Actros relied on intelligence rather than rigid service intervals as early as 1996. Sensors continuously monitored oil, filters, brakes, fluids, driving style and mileage. The result: maintenance when it is really needed. More vehicle availability, lower costs and an innovation that, starting with the first Actros, helped boost efficiency in transport.

The transmission thinks ahead.
Precision over gut feeling: As one of the first (semi-)automatic gearshift systems, the Telligent gearshift evaluated the driving situation in an instant and selected the right gear. This not only brought noticeably more comfort to the cockpit, but also helped conserve diesel fuel! The result: a major step forward for the transport industry – and a little more ease on every trip.
1996
More braking power as standard.
In 1996, Mercedes‑Benz Trucks brought the Actros to market as the first truck model to come standard with electronically controlled disc brakes – a major step in terms of safety. The Telligent braking system reacted lightning-fast and reduced the braking distance by almost 30 %. An innovation with which the Actros made the road considerably safer for everyone.
