Mining & metallurgical industry

Simply the Be(a)st.

The open-cast mine at Kevitsa, one of Finland's largest mineral deposits, is back-breaking work: beyond the Arctic Circle temperatures range from –40 °C to +30 °C, and the area also features rough terrain and gravel tracks. To refuel the heaviest vehicles in the world in this environment requires a robust and reliable truck: the Zetros 6x6 – or "The Beast", as the Boliden Mine has christened its blue tanker from Daimler Truck.

The Zetros 6x6 is the ultimate tanker for the Finnish mining industry.

Tough shell, easy access.

Several million tonnes of ore are processed into metal concentrates in Finnish open-cast mines every year – here the Zetros, with its unique technology and robust design, meets the tough demands every day. And it makes things easy for its drivers: the low entry and the folding bonnet make maintenance and access easier. The low vehicle height and the torsion-free mounting of the cab ensure a comfortable driving experience – particularly on uneven roads the truck shows its strengths.

Note: The Zetros is used within the mine and generally does not operate on public roads. The regulations of the respective country must be observed.

Resilience and ergonomics.

Ari-Pekka Oikarinen, Zetros driver at the Boliden Mine, reports: "Even when fully loaded you hardly notice anything when driving up the ramps. The retarder allows you to control your speed well when going downhill. The suspension is excellent. Even at high speeds you hardly feel any bumps."

Power and robustness.

The Zetros is equipped with a 375 kW/510 hp engine. Its reinforced ladder frame and auxiliary frame with double three-point mounting provide a torsionally rigid structure. And it handles any incline: with an approach angle of up to 35° and high ground clearance, it is ideal for difficult terrain.

The tanker is well prepared for difficult terrain and unpaved roads, as its permanent all-wheel drive and high torsional flexibility ensure optimal traction. An optimized suspension, reinforced shock absorbers, lockable differentials and a two-speed transfer case with off-road mode complete the equipment. Available options include a 16‑speed manual transmission or an Allison automatic transmission.

Fuel and high-tech.

This is how the blue beast refuels its larger workmates: equipped with a 10,000-l tank and a 500-l AdBlue tank, it has the right fuel on board for everyone. The Dealex Stella refueling system with automatic hose guidance ensures safe handling. It is always connected, as its RFID antennas and GSM/LTE antennas enable data exchange with the base and other vehicles.

The Zetros 6x6 is built for extreme conditions. Its reliability in difficult terrain and its state-of-the-art refueling technology make it the ideal vehicle for tough missions – simply The Beast!
