The Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4146 is anything but an ordinary truck. The chassis, developed by Mercedes-Benz Trucks specifically for fire service, provides outstanding stability, maneuverability and safety at a high level. The four-axle configuration with a dual steering axle at the front allows for a small turning radius – a significant advantage when maneuvering between aircraft, taxiways and buildings.

The Arocs 4146 is powered by the OM 470 inline six-cylinder engine with an impressive 12.8 l displacement and 456 hp. This allows the airport fire service to rely on sustained power and efficiency on every mission.

The electric power steering reduces physical strain at the wheel and also improves control of the vehicle even when fully loaded. AGM batteries and Bluetooth-supported monitoring make maintenance simple – a clear plus for availability and operational readiness.

With 20,000 l of extinguishing water on board – at the time of its introduction a record across the entire island – the fire-fighting vehicle is ideally prepared for large-scale blazes. The water tank body, manufactured by the Taiwanese maker Fire Wolf, was specifically designed for the extensive spread and intense heat generation typical of airport fires caused by kerosene – for quick and effective firefighting from the very first moment.

Even its predecessor, an Actros also from Mercedes-Benz Trucks, served in the Taichung airport fire service's fleet for around 15 years. Robust, reliable and powerful – these qualities made it an integral part of the safety structure.
