Various dynamic handling control and driver assistance systems help enormously to keep driver, vehicle and load even safer on the road. For example, the optional Telligent® Lane Assistant which can warn the driver if the vehicle starts to move unintentionally out of its lane, or Telligent® stability control, an optional system for Actros semitrailer tractors which increases safety when cornering and negotiating motorway exits.

The optionally available Telligent® proximity control also increases road safety, as the speed and distance are automatically adapted to the changing traffic conditions with the aid of the standard-fitted combined drive and braking cruise control. There's also the bi-xenon headlamps, which create light conditions similar to daylight, and finally, the optional Safety Packs.

The Actros has a lot to offer when it comes to home comforts too: standard features include, for example, the lower comfort bed, a shaving mirror, two towel holders and seats that can be folded forward simply by unlatching² the backrest. A folding table and a sunblind for the co-driver's side are available as an option. In short: there is a great deal to look forward to in the Actros. Also on board: large stowage facilities, co-driver's seats that enhance living comfort and lights for every occasion.

Long distance transport is a tough business. Which is why our test programme is just as tough. Because only a truck that has been optimally prepared from top to bottom for the rigours of day-to-day operation can do what we expect of it. And what you expect of it too.

So our trucks are subjected each year to a range of stringent tests, because each improvement or further development has to show that it has the absolute maturity to enter series production and will also perform as intended in practice. Only by doing so can we at Mercedes-Benz be sure that our trucks will set the international benchmark for economy and reliability. Both now and in the future.

The Actros shows how it's possible to be frugal and still look good. The Actros instrument cluster with chrome rings doesn't just look classy. Its excellent combination of lettering, colours and dials ensures optimum legibility. And the comfortable, fitness-promoting seats in the Actros do not have to hide away either. They are equipped as standard with hard-wearing, easy-care velour in the "Brasao" design. Flat-weave fabric covers in "Brasao" design are available as an alternative.

Other striking features are the discreetly backlit Mercedes star and the key design where the chrome-plated Mercedes star blends perfectly with the plastic handle.

From the outside, the two angled, transparent outer sections of the sun visor round off the unmistakable face of the new Actros. The chrome-plated centre section emphasises the impression of quality and lightness. The shape of the exterior mirrors reduces vibrations and the accumulation of dirt on the Actros. The powerfully arched main headlamps of the Actros accentuate its dynamic appearance. With their clear-lens look, they not only look chic but also illuminate the road better.

Low fuel consumption and low emissions are not just the result of innovative, advanced technology. Rather they are also born out of an approach that step by step is translating our commitment to more environmentally sustainable products and production operations into actions.

Thanks to BlueTec®, the Actros is not just one of the most economical trucks around today, it's also one of the most environmentally friendly: fuel consumption and consequently CO2 emissions are impressively low. And to ensure it stays that way in the future, we're already working on drivetrain solutions and measures for reducing rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag that will improve efficiency even further. Our BlueTecEco pack of measures also aims to save resources: under this name, we have brought together a range of products and services which reduce fuel consumption and thereby help to lessen the impact on the environment. By using vehicle technology that makes our trucks very efficient. And by giving seminars, training courses and advice that are good for both the environment and your balance sheet.

But to us, environmental protection also means selecting the right raw products and materials for our trucks, designing them with recycling in mind and manufacturing them using environmentally sustainable practices, for example the use of heat recovery to reduce CO2 emissions. What's more, all Mercedes-Benz Trucks plants are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. Our on-going development of driver assistance systems and use of FleetBoard® are also contributing towards greater environmental sustainability.
