The Trumer Privatbrauerei has stood for quality for centuries: beer has been brewed in Obertrum for over 400 years, and the company has been family-owned for 250 years. But tradition here does not mean standing still. Today the brewery is taking new paths.
The Mercedes‑Benz eEconic 300 fits seamlessly into this picture: it drives quietly, cleanly and reliably. It is powered by electricity from its own photovoltaic systems, while the heat for the brewing process comes from a nearby wood-chip combined heat and power plant. This way, the entire operation does without fossil fuels.

A truck made for the city.
In dense city traffic, the Mercedes-Benz eEconic 300 plays to its strengths. Three battery packs deliver 291 kWh of effectively usable energy. In the case of Trumer Privatbrauerei, this enables a realistic range of around 300 km per charge. That's easily enough for several runs through Salzburg and the surrounding area. Because the brewery's truck often only needs charging every few days, operations remain flexible.
Thanks to the electric drive, it doesn't disturb the city centre: no engine noise, but full power. With up to 400 kW, the eEconic accelerates powerfully and in a controlled manner.
Direct vision and short distances
The low-floor cab, with its low seating position and panoramic glazing, provides an unobstructed view of the traffic. Modern assistance systems such as blind spot assist and a distance warning system can further enhance safety. The entry and exit are particularly cleverly designed: the folding door on the right-hand side opens inward so that drivers always step out on the side away from traffic.
This is not only safer but also efficient, because you are immediately at the side-lift platform of the special Wingliner body. The low entry is almost reminiscent of a bus.
A driver with passion.
Beer delivery driver Thomas Gell was initially sceptical about the electric truck, but after just a few days he was convinced. For the former firefighter, who first discovered his passion for large vehicles while volunteering and got hooked there, the eEconic is now the perfect workplace.
What matters most to him are the ergonomics and driving comfort. Thanks to the folding door and the Wingliner body, he saves effort and can avoid the moving traffic when getting in and out. He particularly values the visibility from the cab: "Cyclists, pedestrians, cars. I can see everything much better than in other trucks." Then there's the driving experience: the quiet start, the direct acceleration and the smooth rolling through the narrow streets. His verdict is clear: "All in all, there's nothing better."

Energy in the flow.
At the end of the day the eEconic is back in the yard of the Trumer Privatbrauerei and charged with its own electricity. The next morning it sets off again – quiet, clean and full of energy. While the city is still asleep, Thomas Gell is already on his way. With crates, kegs and a clear goal: to deliver beer. And to help protect the environment. And all of it with the eEconic.
