East Westphalians can be generous.
Finally! The Weitkamp family from Bünde won’t forget the day in February when the new, leaf-green (RAL 6002) Unimog U 435 arrived at the farm. They were so excited about the new vehicle. After eleven years, it was high time for the predecessor, a Unimog U 400 with 10,000 operating hours on the clock, to leave the Weitkamp farm. The new addition was the first Unimog with the new engine to be delivered in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The expert for experts.
“We already knew that this Unimog would be the boss’s vehicle,” says Jobst Weitkamp with a grin. He runs the farm and cultivates 230 hectares of arable land. The Weitkamps grow barley, wheat, rapeseed, beets and maize. The second in command in the company is son Jan Philipp. The father and son duo are supported in their daily business by an 8-strong team.
Logistics in focus.
A second pillar of the Weitkamps' business is their agricultural contracting operation. For this the team cultivates 150 ha, and exclusively maize. It is grown for a biogas plant, with everything that goes with it – including crop protection and spreading slurry. "Our Unimog is used every day and especially in logistics," explains Jobst Weitkamp. "We drive everything with the Unimog to the edge of the field. A conventional agricultural tractor then takes over there."
The new Unimog U 435 with a large engine and an output of 260 kW/354 hp complements the leaf-green Mercedes-Benz Actros fleet: three 1846s with hydrostatic all-wheel drive are also on the road all day to deliver seed, crop protection products, machinery and, for example, slurry to the site of operations.

Also out on winter service.
"The Unimog brings flexibility to our fleet," enthuses Jobst Weitkamp. "It's fast, highly versatile, has the necessary power, and we can have it operate without restriction all year round." That's why the Unimog is also fitted at the front with a municipal mounting plate. This is needed, for example, for the Schmidt snowplough. After all, winter service is another offering of the family business. In winter, the Unimog also carries a Schmidt spreader piggyback.

A real eye-catcher.
No weather, no terrain is too demanding for the leaf-green all-rounder: 24-inch agricultural tyres, tyre pressure control system, rear power lift, hydraulic power take-off, ISOBUS, LED beacons, high-mounted headlights and a roll bar make many a colleague jealous. But people from East Westphalia know how to be generous.
And so Jobst Weitkamp waves cheerfully to colleagues and often to passers-by when, as an imposing low-loader combination (with up to 23 t payload), he transports a rental excavator, pulls his 26 m³ Kotte slurry tanker, or is out and about with the 3,200-l mounted sprayer from Inuma (21-metre working width).
