Professionals for everything wood-related.

So far they have still been able to see the wood for the trees – after all, the forest is their employer. Paul Wolf and Fabian Freisleben are professionals when it comes to trees and shrubs: tree felling, tree care, firewood, wood chips. And without heavy equipment they'd be lost. Because Paul Wolf and Fabian Freisleben insist on quality – both in their equipment and in their work – they recently put their second Unimog U 535 into service.

The young entrepreneur Paul Wolf from Kloster Lehnin, which is located southwest of Potsdam in Brandenburg, grew into his job in a very typical way. "When I was around 20, I had a wood-burning heating system at home. I had to cut firewood for it. And because my mates also heated with wood, they suddenly wanted me to supply their firewood. So I bought a chainsaw and produced and sold even more firewood," he says proudly.

More and more inquiries came in, a friend with extensive climbing experience offered to help with the demanding tree felling, and then a whole host of training courses followed for the young team. Today there are four of them, and they are well known in the Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg region for wood chips and firewood. "With our mobile Posch S375 saw-splitter we saw and split firewood from the log to stove-ready firewood."

The Unimog with a long wheelbase for maximum payload of timber and wood chips are used both in the forest and for wood delivery operations. "They are fast and maneuverable," says company boss Paul Wolf. "And the service intervals on the Unimog are much longer than on an agricultural tractor. That is very important for us."

Most of the time, chipping with the Bieber 84 from Eschlböck is done directly onto the flatbed – a custom build by Söder. Paul Wolf can chip onto the flatbed from above or blow the chippings in from below via a flap. A mesh net used as a cover makes that possible. The Stepa rear crane, which still lifts a respectable 750 kg when fully extended, is an indispensable feature for keeping the operation running. Wherever he works, the crane is there.

And because the successful business even has genuine fans, Paul Wolf has even set up a fan shop on his website. There you can find clothing with cool designs and slogans – of course all themed around wood.
